How tools work and what they cannot guarantee

Every tool on this site is designed to run locally in your browser. When you paste a JWT, a JSON payload, an IP address, or a CSP header into any tool on this site, that input is processed by JavaScript running on your own machine. It is not transmitted to any server operated by Online Dev Tools. This is a deliberate architectural choice, not just a privacy claim — the site has no backend application server that receives your tool inputs.

This architecture means that tool output depends entirely on your browser's JavaScript engine and the correctness of the client-side code. Tool outputs are provided for informational and development purposes only. They are not a substitute for verification in your actual runtime environment. A JWT decoded here shows you what the token contains; it does not tell you whether your server's validation logic will accept it. A CSP policy analyzed here shows you structural issues and common misconfigurations; it does not certify that your deployment is secure. You are responsible for verifying that tool output is appropriate for your specific use case before acting on it.

Third-party tools and external requests

Some tools — specifically WHOIS Lookup, IP Lookup, and Hostname to IP — make network requests as part of their function. These requests go to third-party APIs (RDAP registries, the Google DNS-over-HTTPS API, and IP intelligence APIs) and are necessary for the tool to work. Input you provide to these tools may be transmitted to those third parties as part of the lookup. The site does not control those third-party services and is not responsible for how they handle query data. Their respective privacy policies and terms apply.
